J-Lay

EB has been involved with the conceptual design of a number of systems and is in the process of delivering one of the world’s largest J-Lay towers developing its already extensive experience in the provision of specialist offshore handling equipment.

The tower will be capable of deploying product at line tensions of up to 1500 tonnes with the system able to hold the pipeline in the hang off clamp at catenary tensions of up to 2000 tonnes.

The system is designed to operate at a range of angles from 45 degrees to 96 degrees and can load quad joints up to 52m in length into the tower in a single action. The tower has a unique PLET loading system allowing large and heavy end terminations to be loaded into the tower at a range of angles.

As well as the design and supply of a tower system, EB has previously provided major sub systems such as the pipe elevator system for the Acergy Polaris J-Lay Tower.
