Sea Stallion Cable Ploughs
IHC EB's extensive experience in the design and build of subsea trenching equipment has enabled it to develop the world-leading Sea Stallion cable plough range which has set new standards in submarine cable installation and protection. The Sea Stallion has a proven ability to allow effective cable burial of up to 3m in a wide range of seabed conditions, whilst minimising residual tension in the installed cable.
Models include the IHC EB Sea Stallion 3, an aggressive deep ocean plough specifically adapted for the burial of telecoms cables and large diameter repeaters. Unlike other 'vertical knife' ploughs, the forward rake of the Sea Stallion 3 cutting elements creates an additional downward force during operation ensuring consistent and reliable product burial, even in stiff clays and sands.
The IHC EB Sea Stallion 4 is a simple, but robust and aggressive plough specifically designed to achieve efficient and effective burial of power cables. Its robust chassis can withstand tow forces in excess of 180t to permit cable burial in the hardest seabed conditions. It has gained worldwide recognition for its performance in the offshore wind power cable industry, both for inter array and export cable burial.
IHC EB is able to tailor its Sea Stallion plough systems to specific project ground conditions. Previous examples include the supply of a share and cutting tips designed for cable burial in a chalk seabed.
